Black History Month
The month of October has been 'Black History Month' and we have educated, reflected and embraced discussions and reading throughout the school. We have recently invested in some wonderful books to add to our collection of diverse literature.
The children from Early Years to Year 6 have learnt about why we have 'Black History Month' and they have enjoyed learning about so many influential people who have worked hard to make our world a more wonderful place where equality and diversity is celebrated. We have all enjoyed learning about the people who have had such an impact on the world we live in; from Martin Luther King and Ruby Bridges to Alice Ball, Jesse Owens and Ella Fitzgerald. Although 'Black History Month' has been a focus during the month of October, the celebration of diversity and diverse literature is fluid throughout the year.
